LeBron James and the end of a historic career

As much as we may not want to think about it, we must be honest. The end of LeBron James is near. Father Time is undefeated and it will eventually catch up with LeBron. Even though he has shown little-to-no signs of slowing down, this is going to be one of the biggest storylines surrounding the league this season. LeBron will be 39 in a couple of months and he can opt out of his current contract with the Los Angeles Lakers after this season.

Even if he wants to continue playing, there’s at least an outside chance that big changes could be on the horizon when it comes to LeBron. At this point, you can probably make the argument that LeBron has slowly faded into being the second-best player on the Lakers. While there are times when LeBron still looks and plays dominant, the Lakers are clearly going to go as far as Anthony Davis can take them.

The end is near for LeBron. It’s going to be a sad day when it finally comes. Heading into the start of this season, I think it’s time many fans begin rationalizing the possible end to the careers of one of the best players in NBA history.
