New York Knicks
As the New York Knicks continue to practice patience when it comes to targeting another star to place next to Jalen Brunson, perhaps there’s a scenario in which they get somewhat impatient. If that does end up being the case heading into the NBA Trade Deadline and the Knicks don’t want to burn all their assets, DeMar DeRozan could be viewed as an option that would fit in their attempt to win this season while also not being a huge commitment for the future.
And from a basketball standpoint, DeRozan would be a natural fit. There would be concerns about his lack of 3-point shooting prowess on a team that struggles from distance in the postseason, but that’s something the Knicks would try to figure out down the line.
Put DeRozan on this team now and the Knicks automatically gain a different element to their offense that they didn’t have before. He wouldn’t be the final piece the Knicks are looking for to win a championship, but they’d certainly take another step forward as a possible dark horse contender in the Eastern Conference.
