25. New York Knicks (via Dallas) - Scotty Middleton, F, Ohio State
With a second first-round pick, thanks to a trade with the Dallas Mavericks, the New York Knicks will have the opportunity to add a second quality draft prospect. Taking a flier on a strong wing prospect could be the path the Knicks are willing to take. Scotty Middleton, a 6-foot-7 out of Ohio State, could be a worthy project for the Knicks to take on. He may not be a premier draft prospect but could help bolster the Knicks wing depth.
Considering that the Knicks might end up making a trade that could end up gutting their depth at some point soon, adding a prospect such as Middleton could end up paying dividends for the team in the not-so-distant future. But I think the Knicks should understand that he's very much a project.
Middleton isn't likely to put up gaudy numbers this season as he's playing somewhat of a limited role for the time being at Ohio State, but he has the potential to translate to a difference-making 3-and-D contributor at the next level.
