2015 NBA Draft Fact Or Fiction: Lakers Taking Russell; Porzingis No. 1?
Kristaps Porzingis going No. 2 or 3?
Backstory: The Latvian big man had his one and only workout late last week. To say it was a success would be an understatement. Not only did Kristaps Porzingis turn heads during the event, but he impressed a handful of NBA scouts and GMs in order to begin the chatter of him potentially being the best prospect in this draft.
Porzingis impressed so much during his lone workout before next week’s NBA draft that he has garnered interest from the Los Angeles Lakers, who hold the No. 2 pick in the draft. Also, if the Lakers do in fact go with Russell or Okafor at 2, don’t overlook the Sixers taking a hard look at Porzingis.
One NBA scout even said that Porzingis could be the best prospect in this draft.
This, with all due respect to Porzingis, has to be a whole lot of smokescreen. It just has to be. I mean, sure, Porzingis is definitely and intriguing prospect, but by no means is he better than Karl-Anthony Towns. Let’s no go THAT far.
He is a nice prospect, but he isn’t the best. Nor will he go in the top-3.
Verdict: FICTION
Next: A unanimous No. 1?
