2014-15 Stats: 7.8 points, 3.1 assists

It’s pretty simply for the Boston Celtics. They need a star. That’s clear. In order to make things simpler, it would be great if Marcus Smart was that guy for them. The main reason why Smart is the Celtics’ most important player in 2015-16 is simply because he needs to take the next step in order for this Celtics team to take the next step.

Because the Celtics decided it was a good idea to make the playoffs, they didn’t have a lottery pick in 2015. Now, the Celtics almost NEED Smart to be the player they thought he’d be when they selected him at No. 6 in last year’s NBA Draft.

As a rookie, Smart has has his moments. He just wasn’t great at any particular stretch. That needs to change this season. He’s their most important player.
