The Pelicans will miss the playoffs

This is not an indictment of Anthony Davis or new head coach Alvin Gentry, because I firmly believe that both will be great for the Pelicans. Instead, this prediction is more about my concerns of their roster construction and their inability to remain – or get – healthy.

New Orleans is already set to start the season without Norris Cole, Alexis Ajinca, Quincy Pondexter and Tyreke Evans for at least the first couple weeks of the season – and it hasn’t even started yet. That isn’t good news for a team that has injury issues in the past.

Anthony Davis will be really good this season, probably the best he’s ever looked. But I just can’t get over the fact that they may never get a fully healthy Jrue Holiday and Eric Gordon is one slip up away from missing a month. I simply can’t trust the Pelicans right now. Neither should you.
