Los Angeles Clippers

Let’s be honest, for all the commercials and marketability that Blake Griffin brings, getting yourself injured by beating up your teams equipment manager just doesn’t look good.

If Blake Griffin is out, that could mean that Kevin Durant is in.

More from NBA Rumors

The Clippers re-signed DeAndre Jordan in free-agency in a move that made waves. But, keeping the core of Griffin, Jordan, and Chris Paul together hasn’t paid the dividends that the Clippers were hoping for.

To date, the Clippers have only won one game against a team that is considered to win-it all – the Bulls this past Sunday – and have suffered big losses against the rival Warriors.

All signs indicate that this season is the last one for the Clippers’ core to finally make that push to the next level. The prediction after several months, unfortunately, is that the team will suffer another second round loss to either the Thunder, Spurs, or Warriors.

Make no mistake, there is no way Griffin stays if Durant comes into the picture. The idea of being the focal point of the Clippers with help from Paul and Jordan could be enough to entice Durant to come to the NBA’s second biggest market.

There’s also the advantage of being under a championship caliber coach in Doc Rivers.

While the franchise has not performed to the level that was expected, there is no question that the Clippers have done the work to bring in all the pieces necessary. Something that the Thunder in recent years have failed to do.
