Los Angeles Lakers: Kobe Bryant’s Most Memorable NBA Moments
Kobe Scores 81
When looking back at Kobe Bryant’s career, one of his highlights will definitely be the night he scored 81 against the Toronto Raptors. And here are a few notes from that historic night, Jan 22, 2006:
- Outscored the Raptors 55-41 in the second half
- Highest NBA scoring output recorded and broadcast on video media
- Scored 19 consecutive Laker points between the end of the first half and the middle of the third quarter
- He scored 27 points in the third quarter, 28 in the
fourth.
Kobe finished with 28 field goals made (seven 3s), 18 made free throws and (somewhat fitting) had two assists. The Lakers only had five bench points that night. The second-highest scorer on the Lakers that night was Smush Parker, who finished with 13 points.
Looking back, 81 may never be topped by any individual player in the NBA again. It’s actually amazing that Kobe was able to pull off such feat, too. This accomplishment will go down as one of Kobe’s biggest individual achievement.
