Boston Celtics

Notable Additions: Al Horford

Free Agency Grade: A-

The only reason the Boston Celtics don’t get an A+ is because they didn’t land Kevin Durant. Signing Al Horford as a consolation prize isn’t that bad, though. It won’t just make the Celtics a step better next year – you’d think that they should eclipse the 50-win plateau – but it will help make Boston into a real threat to land big free agents in the future.

The goal this summer was to finally cash in on some of those assets that Danny Ainge and the Celtics keep talking about. After what transpired on draft night – which was more teasing than anything – Ainge needed to hit a home run in free agency.

While he almost came away swinging and missing big again, he finally got his big fish in the way of Horford. He may not be the flashiest of names, but he’s a name. That counts.
