NBA: Ranking The Top 10 Shooting Guards In The NBA Entering 2016-17
1. James Harden, Houston Rockets
Counting Stats: 29.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 7.5 assists
PER: 25.3
WS: 13.3
VORP: 6.9
I know he gets a bad reputation, but I don’t think there’s any question about James Harden’s talent. He’s the best offensive 2 in the NBA, and it’s not even close. That alone helps cover up his lackluster defensive efforts.
Coming off a season in which he averaged a career-high 29 points per game, this was overall considered a “empty” year for Harden. Not to mention that he also averaged career highs in rebounds and assists.

James Harden carried the mess that was the Houston Rockets all the way to the playoffs last season. Even though they didn’t do much in the playoffs, the fact that they qualified was alone impressive.
