NBA All-Star Break Roundtable: Surprises, Predictions And Trades
The Biggest Winner Of All-Star Weekend Will Be?
Michael Saenz, Editor: Derrick Jones Jr. He can dunk. Poor, Aaron Gordon.
Tyree Morton, Contributor: Aaron Gordon. He will win the slam dunk contest that he should’ve won last year.
James Polazzon, Contributor: Aaron Gordon. After a long wait, Gordon will finally have a chance to redeem his close loss in last year’s dunk contest. This time around, Zach LaVine won’t be defending his title and the basketball world’s eyes will be pinned firmly on Gordon’s sure-to-be-spectacular performance above all else. If we get anything close to what Gordon produced last year, we will be the biggest winners of All-Star weekend too.
Mason McFee, Contributor: Nikola Jokic. While the Rising Stars Challenge isn’t the event that receives the most attention during All-Star Weekend, but it provides the best chance to pretend you knew all about the players participating. In all seriousness though, Nikola Jokic has been on a tear lately and is keeping the Nuggets’ postseason hopes alive on his play alone (40 points against the Knicks, a triple double against the Warriors). I’m excited for people to actually start knowing who he is.
Nick Gonzalez, Contributor: I think Kemba Walker. Walker is appearing in his first All-Star game and will have a chance to show his skill set in front of everyone. Being from a small market, most casual fans don’t really know how good Kemba is, and he will be able to show case his talents this ASG weekend.
