25. Orlando Magic – Jawun Evans, G, Oklahoma State

GM: Mason McFee; Twitter: @_Mason_Jar

This is the Magic’s fourth first round selection of this year’s draft, and while it might seem like overkill to use all of them and not package them for a more established player, the Magic were content to roll the dice on the slightly undersized but electric guard from Oklahoma State.

Goran Dragic is more than capable of holding down the fort until his contract expires in (possibly) 2019; where he’ll only be 33, and hopefully the Magic are a bit more competitive if he wanted to stick around in a veteran role; but I digress.

Evans would not be asked to be forced into a prominent role as he learns the pace and ins and outs of the NBA, as the Magic have veterans D.J. Augustin and C.J. Watson under contract until the end of the 2019-20 and 2017-18 seasons respectively.

Watson may be moved at a later date to create some playing time for Evans, as Richardson can assume PG duties in spot minutes. While Dragic and Augustin have shown to be capable starters in this league, neither can be asked to be the Magic’s PG of the future. The Magic are excited to see if (and believe that) Evans can be that guy.
