NBA: A deep dive into the 5 most interesting teams of 2017-18
Golden State Warriors
This is a no-brainer. Fresh off winning their second NBA Championship in three years, there’s no question that the Warriors will be constantly in the headlines – not to mention that they sport arguably the best roster ever compiled in NBA history.
In an attempt to get some deeper insights on the Dubs, we brought in Carlos Murillo of Blue Man Hoop to help us out.
What’s the next progression for the Golden State Warriors? What will it look like, if it’s even predictable?
Murillo: JaVale McGee three-pointers!!!!
But more seriously, with a team like this, it’s hard to say. I think it’s just efficiency that we’ve never seen before.

Steve Kerr has emphasized taking care of the ball, something they’ve struggled with because of their style. Steph Curry seems to have taken that to heart, turning the ball over just five times in the preseason. If the team can cut down TO’s, then they might unlock the offense (even more).
If any team is beating the Warriors in a playoff (or Finals) series, who will it be?
Murillo: I’ve thought about this quite a bit. I’m leaning towards the Oklahoma City Thunder. If their trio of stars can really buy into playing with each other and having a smaller role, then they have good personnel to challenge the Warriors.
I think Houston will be a great regular season team, but the Dubs have been able to contain James Harden and Chris Paul for the most part. And, if they meet LeBron James in the Finals, he always poses a threat.
I’m going OKC though. I think Andre Roberson’s shortcomings will be less fatal with more offensive weapons around him. And Steven Adams is my guy. Warriors in 5 though.
What is the biggest storyline to follow this season for the Warriors?
Murillo: I’m most interested in seeing Nick Young be Swaggy with this team, but that’s because I love chaos.
I think there are two major storylines: Steve Kerr’s health and the team’s focus.
Can Kerr coach a full season? If not, what does that mean for his future? His health is more important than basketball.
To the second point, winning is hard. Winning again is even harder. The Warriors just proved no one can keep up with them. What’s their motivation for really trying in the regular season? That can be dangerous because you then rely on just flipping the switch instead of building.
