Joe Johnson – and maybe Isaiah Thomas – will dominate the buyout market

Now that the NBA trade deadline is in the books, the NBA’s mid-season free agency will take center stage – better known s the buyout market.

This is where we see veterans that are bought out of the final year(s) of their contract in order to sign with a playoff hopeful or contender. This season, a few of the top buyout candidates appear to be Joe Johnson (again) and possibly Isaiah Thomas.

Expect the same old suspects hitting the buyout market hard – the likes of the Boston Celtics, who elected not to make a move at the deadline and landed Greg Monroe last week, San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers will be the frontrunners for any number of these players.
