DARK HORSES

Golden State: Well, Kevin Durant did it…

Utterly inconceivable, but maybe Vegas is getting an influx of bets from irrationally exuberant Bay Area fans?

Bucks: The Giannis factor

Apparently Vegas has the Bucks, Knicks, and Pistons listed as dark horses for LeBron because of that one guy in each city who I guess bet on his fave team…oh and those three guys bet so much that even the next team supposedly has slimmer chances.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

SPURS: They have Gregg Popovich, I guess?

They weren’t rumored to be on his short list, but the mere idea of LeBron and Kawhi playing together under Coach Pop is fascinating enough to at least consider. If you’re a Spurs fan, it’s simple:

You need to make the playoffs, which you already want. The tricky part is you really need Kawhi Leonard to come back and look like last year’s Kawhi. If I were LeBron and wanted to win a title or two, I don’t think I’d want to bet that a guy who hasn’t been healthy since May 2017 could help me win in June of 2019, without seeing him play very well first. So it has to happen soon…like starting this week.

Imagine how excited Kawhi Leonard might sound when he got that phone call:

“Hello?…wow…oh nice. No no, I am. Of course very excited….Alright See you soon, ok…right…ok… bye.”

Absolute delirium.

Boston: Uhm, anything can happen?

(C’mon, what can’t Danny Ainge do?)

Miami: Anything can happen…again?

(C’mon, what can’t Pat Riley do?)

Some of this will feel very natural. Like rooting for your own team to stay healthy and win games. Or hoping Lavar Ball has a public melt down. But then others may feel counterintuitive. Like a Rockets fan rooting for The Thunder in the first round.
