Has Anthony Davis play his final game in a Pelicans jersey?

It’s pretty clear that Anthony Davis doesn’t want to play for the New Orleans Pelicans anymore, and if he had it his way he wouldn’t suit up again this season. But I’m not sure it’s simply that easy for both sides as there is still two months left in the season.

The NBA has made it clear they want Davis to continue playing for the Pelicans, but it honestly doesn’t make sense for either side. Davis can’t raise his trade value – it’s virtually the highest it’s ever been – any more by playing, and can only get worse by suffering an injury.

If Davis were to suffer a serious injury, the Pelicans could be stuck with him for another season – especially if such injury were to keep him out for a significant amount of time. It makes the most sense for Davis to sit out the rest of the season, but it’s not a forgone conclusion that will happen.
