NBA: One question left unanswered for every team in 2019-20

Are the Raptors a real threat to win the East, or is their regular-season success fool’s gold?

Even though the Toronto Raptors were coming off an NBA Championship, not much was expected after Kawhi Leonard left the team in free agency. To the dismay of many, the Raptors actually entered the hiatus as the second seed in the Eastern Conference, behind the lead of Pascal Siakam and Kyle Lowry.

With that said, there’s still a question as to whether their regular-season success was more fool’s gold or if it was something real and tangible that the team could continue to build around. On paper, you wouldn’t expect this team to be able to keep up with the other contenders. However, that’s exactly what they were doing during the regular season.

The playoffs would’ve been a good way to understand what this team really is. Are they just a flash in the pan during the regular season or are they a sleeping giant in the East?
