Mike Conley, Utah Jazz

In all likelihood, Mike Conley is probably going to opt-in to the final year of his contract with the Utah Jazz. At the age of 32, Conley could probably opt-in to collect his $34 million for 2020-21 and then cash-in on one more big-ish contract before the twilight of his career in the NBA. However, considering that he had an up-and-down season with the Jazz, there’s a chance that the team moves him during the offseason.

Conley only averaged 14 points and four assists on 41 percent shooting from the field and 38 percent shooting from 3-point range this past season in Utah. I’m not sure he had the type of impact that the Jazz thought he’d have on the team, and perhaps Utah feels it would be better to invest his money somewhere else.

The Knicks need a point guard and could use a veteran presence to help teach its young players the ins and outs of the NBA. Conley isn’t going to be a trouble-maker and still has the ability to be a real game-changer. In the right situation, there’s no question that Conley could still be one of the better point guards in the league.

Perhaps New York can be that for him in 2020-21.
