NBA Mock Draft 3.0: New York Knicks earn top pick; James Wiseman drops
23. Miami Heat – Paul Reed, F, DePaul
After three years at DePaul, Paul Reed is ready to make the jump to the NBA. He seems like an ideal fit on a team like the Miami Heat. Reed is coming off a season in which he averaged 15 points, 11 rebounds, and nearly three blocks per game on 52 percent shooting from the field and 31 percent from 3-point range.
Even though he played three years in college, at 6-foot-9 there is a lot to like about Reed’s potential. The big question surrounding him, however, is whether or not he’s already hit his peak. That’s often the big concern when it comes to older players in the draft.
He’s a hard-worker and would fit right into the Heat’s DNA. He’s perfect for the quickly-evolving NBA. Reed has been somewhat overlooked as a prospect, but that could work in the Heat’s favor. Plus, Miami has been quite successful over the last few drafts.
