NBA Mock Draft. 6.0: Kings land LaMelo Ball; Warriors snag James Wiseman
11. Phoenix Suns – Killian Hayes, G, France
Should the Phoenix Suns be able to land Killian Hayes with the 11th pick in the first round, they should be ecstatic. Hayes is a player that could go in the top 6 or 7 picks, so having him fall right into the Suns’ laps outside the top 10 would be a huge shot in the arm for their development as a team.
Ricky Rubio has been a fine stopgap for the team at point guard, but I don’t believe anyone expects him to be the long-term answer at the position. Thus, finding a point guard of the future in this draft would be ideal for the Suns. While there’s no guarantee that Killian Hayes will be that player, he’s a good prospect to take a chance on.
Hayes has good playmaking ability and while his 3-point shot is still very much a work in progress has shown signs of improvement in that area of his game. At just 19 years old, he’ll likely need some time before he plays big minutes in the NBA but could be a nice fit next to Devin Booker in a year or two.
