Philadelphia 76ers: 4 big-name shooters to target in the trade market
J.J. Redick, New Orleans Pelicans
It’s Ok to admit mistakes sometimes, and perhaps this is something that the Philadelphia 76ers need to do this offseason. It’s easy to point to the fact that Philly misstepped by allowing Jimmy Butler and J.J. Redick to walk away during the offseason in favor of Tobias Harris, but at the time many thought the Sixers were making the right move.
While it’s unlikely the Heat would be willing to trade Jimmy Butler back to the Sixers, perhaps the Pelicans would be willing to send Redick back to a player where he probably shouldn’t have left. A third team would almost have to be involved to make this all work and the Sixers would likely need to find a new landing spot of Al Horford or Tobias Harris, but it’s something that makes a ton of sense.
Especially if Mike D’Antoni (nothing is confirmed, that should be noted) is coming in. I’m not sure there’s anything further away from ideal than this Sixers roster for D’Antoni. There is going to be some serious shuffling and perhaps swapping Redick for Horford could go a long way in making this a more appealing opportunity for D’Antoni’s system.
