NBA Mock Draft: James Wiseman jumps to No. 1; Knicks surprise at No. 8
12. Sacramento Kings – Aaron Nesmith, F, Vanderbilt
One of the teams that have the most uncertainty heading into the 2020 NBA offseason is the Sacramento Kings. There’s a question whether Buddy Hield will be on the roster next season and there are some big questions regarding this team’s direction. Are they going to reset and rebuild once again? Are they going to try to retool around this team’s current core? Should they target a player in the frontcourt or backcourt?.
At this point, there aren’t many answers. However, with the 12th pick, I think it’s safe to say that the Kings are going to select the best player available and one that they believe could help their team win now. A player that fits a mold is Aaron and Nesmith.
Nesmith is one of the better shooters in this draft and could very well end up being the best shooter to emerge from this class. If he can translate to an above-average defender at the NBA level, there’s no question that he’ll be able to play a role sooner rather than later for the Kings.
Any player that can shoot 51 percent from 3-point range in 14 games is worthy of a top 14 selection. Especially in today’s NBA.
