The Phoenix Suns are probably out on Kevin Durant
What we know at the moment is just a little more than we knew when Kevin Durant initially made his trade request known. We know that Durant wants a trade away from Brooklyn and that he wants to play for a championship contender.
That much was made clear when he listed the two top No. 1 seeds from last season as the top two teams on his preference list. However, there is one big variable that has changed since last week – it seems that Phoenix’s in-house business may have eliminated themselves from the Durant sweepstakes.
Deandre Ayton has signed an offer sheet with the Indiana Pacers and he will make life extremely complicated for the Suns. They will either match the offer sheet and Ayton will have a no-trade clause for one season (and he can’t be moved until Jan 15) or Phoenix will let him walk for nothing and they’ll lose a key asset.
Either way, it’s difficult to see how Phoenix remains in the running for Durant.
