NBA Trade Rumors: In an attempt to make a serious attempt at Donovan Mitchell or Kevin Durant, the Miami Heat are looking to acquire draft picks.

The Miami Heat has been relatively quiet since the start of free agency and that’s largely due to the fact that they’re pursuing the big fish – namely Donovan Mitchell and Kevin Durant.

However, the one big problem with that is the fact that the Heat simply doesn’t have the trade assets that some of the other teams hoping to land those big names do. Look at a team such as the New York Knicks, who appear to be the favorites for Mitchell.

The Knicks have eight available first-round picks that they could theoretically trade to the Utah Jazz for Mitchell. In contrast, the Heat currently only has two tradable first-round picks.

That’s a problem for the Heat’s chances at hitting on any one of these deals.

So that’s why according to a recent report, the Heat is scrambling to acquire additional first-round picks in separate deals.

It’s assumed that players such as Kyle Lowry, Duncan Robinson, Max Strus, and Gabe Vincent are probably being offered to third and fourth teams in an attempt to get a couple of more first-round picks.

Though, I’m not sure what the trade market is for any of those players at the moment. And if any of them would net a first-round pick from any team. For the Heat, it’s certainly worth a gamble.

Miami knows that they need to make a big splash this offseason, especially after losing PJ Tucker and with the improvements that a team such as the Boston Celtics made.

I’m not sure if the Heat add Mitchell or Durant this offseason, but it’s almost a given that the Heat is going to try their best to do so.
