A lost year for the Utah Jazz?

I don’t generally like to declare lost seasons for teams but this is looking more and more like that will end up being the case for the Utah Jazz. After essentially gutting their roster (and they still have some work to do with a few other veterans), there isn’t much to build off this season.

With the exception of a few of their young players, such as Collin Sexton, Walker Kessler, Jarred Vanderbilt, Talen Horton-Tucker, Lauri Markkanen, and Ochai Agbaji. And even then, there’s no guarantee that either of those players will be considered to be a long-term piece for the new build.

So as the Jazz heads into the season, the expectation is that the team will expect plenty of losses, and the word “tanking” will be associated with the team all season long.

And when it comes to the 2023 NBA Draft, there’s one player that all teams appear to be eyeing – Victor Wembanyama. The Jazz doesn’t appear to be an exception. Wembanyama is going to be the next generational talent that could change the direction of the NBA.
