Trae Young, Atlanta Hawks

Even though the Atlanta Hawks are going to qualify as a Play-In Tournament team, there are still many questions that must be answered this offseason for this team. And one of the biggest ones revolves around Trae Young. The Hawks need to figure out if he is indeed the face of the franchise and the player that they’re going to continue to build around. Just a few months ago, the whispers that surrounded the Hawks suggested that they could be looking to move Young and that they would explore his trade market this summer.

That’s far from a foregone conclusion but it’s something that could end up happening this offseason. Would it be that outlandish for the Hawks to pivot away from Young and try to retool around Dejounte Murray? Maybe? I still don’t have a confident handle on the player that Young is but perhaps Atlanta doesn’t believe he can be your best player and win a title.

I wouldn’t trade Young if I were the Hawks but I also don’t believe that they’re going to run it back next season with the same roster. With how they struggled this season, that would be quite surprising. The question is, is Young the player that the Hawks will want to move?
