Trade assets: 1. LaMelo Ball 2. 2023 first-round pick (2nd overall) 3. Terry Rozier

The Charlotte Hornets are a team that seems to always take a step back as soon as they get some momentum forward. And this past season was a prime example of it. Nevertheless, heading into the offseason, the hope is that the Hornets can continue to take positive steps forward. And perhaps they can do so via trade.

Heading into next season, I don’t think there’s much of a question that LaMelo Ball is the team’s best trade asset. Even though he has his limitations as an overall star, there’s a path to attaining stardom for him at this point in his career. He certainly needs a strong supporting cast but he’s one of the most dynamic young players in the league right now.

The second overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft does hold plenty of value on the open trade market as well. It may not be as coveted as the No. 1 overall pick, but Scoot Henders or Brandon Miller aren’t terrible consolation prizes.

Terry Rozier makes the cut as the team’s third-best trade asset as he’s a proven difference-maker in the backcourt.
