9 ‘Final piece’ trade targets Miami Heat could pursue this offseason
Karl-Anthony Towns
Honestly, I’m not sure how feasible it is for the Miami Heat to acquire Karl-Anthony Towns. On the surface, I don’t believe they have the necessary trade assets to complete a two-team trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves. That said, if the report is accurate that he’s available on the trade market, the Heat should absolutely be one of the teams that put in a call. From a basketball standpoint, he’d be a great fit next to Bam Adebayo. As much as KAT struggles on the defensive end of the floor, Bam would help cover a lot of his issues.
And KAT would absolutely help make Bam a better player on the offensive end too. He’d also give the team another scoring option next to Jimmy Butler, which would be greatly appreciated considering how much of the offense he’s asked to carry at the moment.
The big question is whether the Heat would have enough to offer in a trade to land KAT. Even though he’s struggled over the past couple of seasons, he’s still coming off a year in which he averaged 21 points, eight rebounds, and five assists per game. The Wolves aren’t just going to give that production away. The Heat will have to outbid other teams and I’m not sure they’d have enough to win.
Nevertheless, we’ve seen some stranger things before. Miami should at least make a call.
