4. Houston Rockets – Amen Thompson, G, Overtime Elite

The Houston Rockets are another team that could end up trading back but I ultimately predict that they’re too in love with Amen Thompson to pull the trigger on a trade down if it didn’t land them a veteran star. That said, Thomson could be a great addition to this already talented young core. Right off the bat, he could be the playmaker that this team has needed at the point guard position. Thompson has his faults, but he is a playmaker through and through.

If he can fit and make life easier for Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun, the Rockets will have a strong core that they should feel good about moving forward. Even if they’re stuck on bringing in veteran talent in free agency, this is a good starting spot that the Rockets are in.

For as bad as this team has been over the past few seasons, it’s tough to be too low on Houston. Maybe the slight upgrade at the head-coaching position and a natural playmaker on the roster could make all the difference heading into next season.

Amen Thompson feels like the safe prediction here for the Rockets in the top 5.
