The Golden State Warriors will trade up, but not into the lottery

The Golden State Warriors are another team that will have its hands full heading into the offseason. They have some pretty big decisions to make with the futures of Draymond Green and (possibly) Klay Thompson. But before we get to free agency, the Warriors reportedly are trying to trade up in the NBA Draft. They own the No. 19 pick but reportedly would want to move up into the lottery.

I predict that if their target falls in the 9-14 range, the Warriors will trade up. That said, it’s hard to say who their target could be. They could easily be interested in a guard (backup depth for Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson), wing help (with the possibility that Moses Moody isn’t ready for a bigger role and Donte DiVincenzo moves on in free agency, or even a big (with the chance that Draymond Green could walk in free agency).

If the player that the Warriors are targeting falls out of the top 10, I believe there’s a good chance they could look to make a move. Golden State could use package the No. 19 pick with Moses Moody or even Jonathan Kuminga, or a future pick to move up.
