Terry Rozier, Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets have a big decision to make with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. They are likely deciding between Scoot Henderson and Brandon Miller, and their immediate future will largely be effective by which prospect they end up choosing. Ultimately, I predict that the Hornets are going to go with talent. From all accounts, that means Scoot will end up being the selection by the team.

If that indeed ends up happening, it will open the door for the Hornets to move on from Terry Rozier. It would be an odd three-guard rotation between Rozier, LaMelo Ball, and Scoot. The natural next step for the Hornets would be to trade one of Ball or Rozier. And it’s not going to be Ball.

Rozier is coming off a season in which he averaged 21 points, five assists, and four rebounds per game. At just 29 years old, the trade market for Rozier could be good. If the Hornets could add another asset to the core of Ball and Scoot, this is a franchise that will be on the right track.

With new ownership settling in, the Hornets could emerge as one of the more exciting teams in the NBA next season between the offensive dynamic of Ball and Scoot. I’m not sure if it’s the best of fits, but it’s at the very least enticing.
