Dallas Mavericks
Trade deadline candidate: Tim Hardaway Jr.
The Dallas Mavericks entered the offseason in hopes of retooling their roster or supporting cast around Luka Doncic. That’s exactly what the Mavs accomplished by re-signing Kyrie Irving, drafting Dereck Lively II, and acquiring Grant Williams via a sign and trade from the Boston Celtics. They may not be done and they’ve already done a good job in strengthening the roster around the face of their franchise.
Heading into the start of the season, I’d imagine that there’s a pretty good chance that Dallas ends up trying to move Tim Hardaway Jr. by the NBA Trade Deadline. With Josh Green emerging as an interesting key part of the rotation, I believe Dallas wants to try to open minutes for their talented young wing. That’s where trading Hardaway comes into play.
It’s been reported that the Mavs are interested in Atlanta Hawks center Clint Capela. If such a deal would come to fruition, you’d have to imagine that perhaps Hardaway would be involved in one way or another.
