Remember mid February? The Knicks gave up rookie Jordan Hill and 2 1st round picks for Tracy McGrady. The idea? Open up enough cap space to get 2 max level free agents.  Free agency came and went and the Knicks didn’t get the main prize in one- LeBron James. After the “Redeem Team” won the Gold in Beijing, Coach K and crew have a whole new set of players ready to line up and win the World Championships in Turkey.  Team USA has young superstars like Rajon Rondo, Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry. Throw in Derrick Rose, Tyson Chandler and Lamar Odom?  The new team USA is born. When you look at some of the players on the roster, the build of Team USA is taking shape. First is the Minnesota Timberwolves ( Triangle year 2, Jonny Flynn, Micheal Beasley, David Khan), to the New Jersey Nets ( Missing out on superstars, Devin Harris, Avery Johnson’s ranking as a coach, Brook Lopez overrated?) and the Sacramento Kings ( Tyreke Evans, DeMarcus Cousins, Paul Westphal). By Wednesday,  Paul had listed his 5 teams and the NBA Trade Machine was going bananas. Chris Paul listed Orlando, Portland, Los Angeles, Dallas and New York as the teams he would like to be traded to. I have a problem with that. Remember, a NBA team is not only the superstars like Kevin Garnett and LeBron James but past champions had players like James Posey and Jason Kapono coming off the bench to fill a solid bench role. One things is for sure…this NBA off-season certainly hasn’t been dull. The Summer Of 2010 has been so eventful that even Jesse Jackson has decided to jump into the fray.  While it’s very likely that The Reverend only inserted himself into the story to get a little publicity and/or deflect the firestorm of criticism away from LeBron James, the damage has been done.  Now Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert will reportedly be issuing a formal apology to James later this week.  Yeesh.
