Boom In The Big Apple
Remember mid February? The Knicks gave up rookie Jordan Hill and 2 1st round picks for Tracy McGrady. The idea? Open up enough cap space to get 2 max level free agents. Free agency came and went and the Knicks didn’t get the main prize in one- LeBron James. All isn’t lost in the Big Apple. The Knicks added Amar’e Stoudemire. Stoudemire was arguably a top 5 player in the second half last season. That along with his 24 and 9 career playoffs numbers are something the Knicks missed in the past 5 years. The Knicks also made a huge [...]
Team USA preview
After the “Redeem Team” won the Gold in Beijing, Coach K and crew have a whole new set of players ready to line up and win the World Championships in Turkey. Team USA has young superstars like Rajon Rondo, Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry. Throw in Derrick Rose, Tyson Chandler and Lamar Odom? The new team USA is born. When you look at some of the players on the roster, the build of Team USA is taking shape. Among players I previously named, Coach K and the coaching staff have also brought in Danny Granger, Andre Iguodala, Chancey Billups, Rudy [...]
Thanks to Yardbarker for the photo We have some input on the Chris Paul trade demands. Then? We have a slight season input on our 1st 3 teams. First is the Minnesota Timberwolves ( Triangle year 2, Jonny Flynn, Micheal Beasley, David Khan), to the New Jersey Nets ( Missing out on superstars, Devin Harris, Avery Johnson’s ranking as a coach, Brook Lopez overrated?) and the Sacramento Kings ( Tyreke Evans, DeMarcus Cousins, Paul Westphal). We also touch upon some NBA 2011 prospects. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/upsidenba/2010/07/23/episode-8-nba-30-for-30-nets-and-t-wolves
Chris Paul Seeking Trade
Thanks Yardbarker for the Photo. Earlier this week, the rumors were flying about Chris Paul potentially looking to leave New Orleans. By Wednesday, Paul had listed his 5 teams and the NBA Trade Machine was going bananas. Chris Paul listed Orlando, Portland, Los Angeles, Dallas and New York as the teams he would like to be traded to. I have a problem with that. To me, this looks premeditated and seems he wanted to be traded for a while now. Since Paul’s MVP type season, things have been going downhill for the Hornets. Not only did New Orleans’ win total [...]
Bottom Bin: What’s Left of the NBA 2010 FA Class
Now with all the major free agents are signed and already being slotted on thier teams for season previews, we still have many solid players without a contract. Remember, a NBA team is not only the superstars like Kevin Garnett and LeBron James but past champions had players like James Posey and Jason Kapono coming off the bench to fill a solid bench role. Here are just some of the top free agents left on the market Rasual Butler ( 2009 team: Clippers) Butler isn’t a starter by any means. He could be a very solid scorer off the bench. [...]
Upside NBA Podcast #7- The Calm Before The Storm
We talk about the recent signings ( Luis Scola, Wes Matthews). We also discuss the recent trades around the NBA. Who could be a darkhorse NBA MVP candidate? What’s going on in the NBA Summer League? Who’s improving? Who’s disappointing? Who do John Wall and JaVale McGee remind Dan of? Quentin also drops some breaking news for next week’s podcast. Thanks to Yardbarker for the photo! http://www.blogtalkradio.com/upsidenba/2010/07/16/episode-7-the-calm-before-the-storm
One things is for sure…this NBA off-season certainly hasn’t been dull. The Summer Of 2010 has been so eventful that even Jesse Jackson has decided to jump into the fray. While it’s very likely that The Reverend only inserted himself into the story to get a little publicity and/or deflect the firestorm of criticism away from LeBron James, the damage has been done. Now Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert will reportedly be issuing a formal apology to James later this week. Yeesh. As preposterous as Jackson’s comments were, something even more preposterous happened over the weekend: Donnie Walsh acknowledged that Isiah [...]
Upside NBA Podcast #6- LeBron and The Rest
In podcast number 6, we just get back to our shows. We discuss the Miami Threesome of LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh. We discuss LeBron’s legacy left behind in Cleveland. Could it be avoided? Was the 1 hour special really needed for the breakup? Could Miami win a championship this upcoming season? Could LeBron ever be better then Micheal Jordan with this move to Miami? (Gasp!) We also discuss the additions around the NBA. We’ve seen Amare Stoudemire in New York, Carlos Boozer in Chicago and Travis Outlaw in New Jersey. Did fans overrate the 12 win Nets [...]
