Tyson Chandler, Phoenix Suns

Contract: 4-years, $52 million

In fairness, this deal wouldn’t made a whole lot more sense if the Phoenix Suns would’ve been able to close on LaMarcus Aldridge. Nevertheless, I’m also under the assumption where having Tyson Chandler on your team is always a good thing.

For four years, though, and at an average of $13 million per, I’m not so willing to call this a great move. I’m not sure what Chandler’s other offers were, but I think it’s safe to say this was the highest bidder. I would’ve put his market value at about $10 million per season, at the age of 32. Then, I added in the fact that he’s now playing for the best training staff in the NBA and now I’m thinking Chandler will now play until he’s 40.

Overspending for a player, even just a tad, is OK in free agency. That’s what’s usually the case, anyways.

Verdict: Just About Right
