2017 NBA Draft: 10 things I think will happen on draft night
Miami Tries To Move Tyler Johnson
In an attempt to wiggle out a few more dollars ahead of free agency, I believe that the Miami Heat will at the very least try to move the Tyler Johnson poison pill contract. Even though it’s going to be a manageable $5 million hit this season, Johnson’s number balloons to $19 million after next season.
The Heat, to the best of their ability, need to get out from under that contract before it handcuffs them in the long run.
I believe the Heat will try to do that on draft night. Problem is, I’m not sure any team out there is going to want to invest nearly $40 million over two seasons for Johnson – after his $5 million salary for 20117-18.
