Charlotte Hornets

To spend or not to spend?

The Charlotte Hornets are not necessarily in an ideal position. While they have the eighth pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, before the NBA Draft Lottery, there’s no guarantee that they’ll be able to add a real difference-maker or franchise-changing player. Something that they will have the ability to do, however, is spending some money during the offseason.

Though, that doesn’t necessarily mean they should. The Hornets will have at least $30 million in cap space, possibly more if Nicolas Batum decides to opt-out of the final year of his contract. With a core of Terry Rozier, Devonte Graham, Miles Bridges, and PJ Washington, the Hornets need to find a true lead-star to take a grasp on this locker room.

That opens the door to possibly finding one in free agency. With that said, that’s kind of how the Hornets found themselves in salary cap hell over the last few seasons. Are they willing to take that chance again, or should they continue down the long rebuild process and hope they can find a hidden gem in the draft?

We’ll find out soon enough. For the sake of the fanbase, though, hopefully, they don’t make any huge mistakes this time around.
