Brooklyn Nets

It doesn’t come as a surprise to see the Brooklyn Nets on this list. After signing Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving during the summer of 2019, the targeted year for this team to emerge as contenders in the Eastern Conference was 2020. We’re now inching closer and closer to the expected jump from the Nets.

Even though they had somewhat of a disappointing campaign in 2019-20 with Kyrie on the roster, the expected impact of Kevin Durant is not something that can be calculated just yet. For one, we don’t know how he’s going to look coming off his Achilles injury. And two, we don’t know how he’s going to fit with the current supporting cast.

Still, no matter what happens during the offseason, I think it’s safe to say that the Nets will be better in 2020-21. Even if Durant doesn’t return to 100 percent initially, his 80-90 percent is still better than most in the NBA.

The Nets will be players in the Eastern Conference next season. It’s just a matter of how good they’re going to be, and how they’ll stack up against their competition.
