NBA Mock Draft 3.0: New York Knicks earn top pick; James Wiseman drops
2. Cleveland Cavaliers – Anthony Edwards, G, Georgia
With the Knicks taking a big swing with LaMelo Ball at No. 1, the Cleveland Cavaliers will take the safe prospect in Anthony Edwards. Even though you can make the argument that the Cavs don’t necessarily need another guard on their roster, Edwards is a player that can probably play some small forward and would give this team another NBA-ready prospect.
Edwards averaged 19 points, five rebounds, and three assists on 40 percent shooting from the field and 29 percent from 3-point range. There are clearly some questions about his shooting consistencies and shot selection, but he had to carry the Bulldogs for much of the 2019-20 campaign.
Edwards likely won’t have to do that once he steps into the Cleveland locker room and would be a great asset to this team’s already talented group of young players. Plus, learning under Kevin Love (for at least a while, if he gets traded) would be a great asset to his development.
