5. Ja Morant, Memphis Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies have gotten off to a solid start in the Western Conference to start the season and Ja Morant is a big reason why. In eight games this season, Morant is averaging 27 points, six rebounds, and eight assists on career-high shooting numbers (52 percent from the field and 37 percent from 3).

If Morant can continue to play at this level and the Grizzlies clinch a spot in the top 6 of the West, there’s no question that he should get some recognition in NBA MVP voting. Morant is proving that he can make the jump from just a star to superstar and has the Grizzlies mattering again in the West.

The Grizzlies might need another piece or two to be a true contender in the West this season but there’s no question that this franchise has one of the best young, exciting players in the league leading the way.
