5. Detroit Pistons – Cam Whitmore, F, Villanova

As we inch closer and closer to the 2023 NBA Draft, maneuvering through the NBA Draft Combine and pre-draft individual workouts with teams, there are going to be a few prospects that begin to climb up draft boards. And that will give us even further clarity on what to expect on draft day. One player that continues to rise up draft boards as of now is Villanova product, Cam Whitmore. At this point (and of course, things can still change), I believe that he will be a top 6 or 7 pick in the NBA Draft.

With the way the board has fallen in this mock draft, Whitmore goes No. 5 overall. Whitmore’s combination of size (6-foot-7) and athleticism is what will make him an interesting prospect in this year’s class. He was also quite productive during his freshman season at Villanova, averaging 13 points and five rebounds on 48 percent shooting from the field and 34 percent shooting from 3-point range.

If he continues to gather momentum over the next few weeks, there should be plenty of intrigue surrounding Whitmore after what feels like the consensus top 4. Whitmore has all the physical tools to be a star at the next level.
