After losing to the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals, the Los Angeles Lakers embarked this offseason on trying to reshape their supporting cast around LeBron James and Anthony Davis. They successfully did that with a handful of underrated moves this summer. One other source of improving the roster, aside from the draft and free agents, is internal development. One player that could fall into that category is Max Christie.

Christie didn’t play much for the Lakers last season, averaging just three points per game in 41 games played. However, that could change heading into the 2023-23 season. There’s somewhat of an expectation that Christie will take on a bigger role for the team. And he took a good first step with his performance during the NBA Summer League.

In three games, Christie averaged 19 points, six rebounds, and four assists per game on 46 percent shooting from the field and 50 percent shooting from 3-point range. Christie is the type of player that can completely change the outlook for the Lakers’ future. And it looks like he could get his chance this season in Los Angeles.
