How good can Victor Wembanyama be?

There’s probably a good chance that the San Antonio Spurs don’t even make the playoffs this season but there’s no question that they’ve emerged as one of the most intriguing teams heading into the 2023-24 NBA season. A surprise to no one, Victor Wembanyama is a big reason why. The 2023 No. 1 overall pick has been one of the most productive and impressive players in pre-season and now it’s time to see if he can carry that over into the regular season.

This isn’t the summer league or the pre-season. While that is certainly a good experience, what Wemby does in the regular season is all that matters. And if he’s going to make an impact in the league right away, we should begin to see it on night one. Quite frankly, I’d have to imagine that’s what we’re going to see when he makes his regular-season debut for the Spurs.

Wemby has the chance to be a top-10 player from the moment he steps onto the court this season. That’s how strong the hype surrounding him is. The question is, will that be the case?
